CONDOMINIUMS come in various sizes and shapes and therefore condo design can vary greatly. The majority of the units are getting smaller, requiring much more creative space planning. Condominium interior design is so critical in making the unit feel larger. With condominium interior design, simplicity of line and colour is so important. Texture plays a large part in the end result of what if “feels” like.
There is a misnomer that all condos have to have lots of mirrors, painted white, don’t install window coverings & use under scaled furniture. None of those are true. If you take a look at my Condo Design picture to the left, which is, my last project in northern China, it does have window coverings, is not white and has no under scale furniture. If you look closely you can see how I have used the ceiling, lighting and doors to create visual expanse. This unit is basically one “L” shaped room with the sleeping bed behind the TV which rotates to enable watching in bed. Sofa size did not sacrifice comfort and actually enlarges & defines the space; the bathroom is the only enclosed room.
WITH THIS MODEL UNIT the building was sold out before construction was even completed. Although this design example is Modern Contemporary (favoured by the buyers there), I can also create & design the same efficiency & aesthetic with Transitional or Eclectic Design Styles as seen on the right.
